"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
~ Samuel Beckett in “Worstward Ho” (1983) ~

How do you tell your ADHD son that it is okay to fail?  That is it okay to feel bad about something but shouldn't let that one failure stop you from pursuing your dreams?

It is hard for me to read through my son's mind.  He speaks his mind all the time, but to comprehend how he thinks and why he acts in a certain way, can truly be a challenge to me.

He is a smart boy.  No doubt about it.  But when he is stuck on something, he tends to stop and get frustrated.  No matter how many times I've told him to move on to the next question and just come back to that one, he can't seem to do so.   He can't seem to move on past the question that he couldn't figure out.

Please share your experience and thoughts... I just might learn a few things from you to better help my son!

    O.K.

    I'm sharing my thoughts here...

Have you tried to tell him that ALL people do learn by making mistakes the most of all? That it is not only o.k. to fail on something but maybe even a blessing and opportunity to learn something new...?
Kind a... What do you do when you stumble and fall?... You get up again, right!?!
Remember what I told you about me some time ago? That I've got ADHD myself...
I've learnt the most through my mistakes just because I wouldn't allow anyone to just tell me something they already knew... I just had to experiance anything myself in order to understand it and give meaning to it.

    Just sharing...

    Good luck to you,

    Gabi
